PHYSICIAN LEGACY PROJECT

A long-term sculptural initiative honoring the lives and careers of physicians and advanced practice providers.

Developed by physician and sculptor Eric Overton, MD, the project includes both a permanent monument-scale installation and a series of limited-edition bronze sculptures intended for physician recognition, retirement, leadership, and distinguished service awards.

The first completed sculpture in the series depicts a physician at the end of a shift.

Carrying a white coat in one hand, the figure reflects the responsibility, service, and commitment that define a life in medicine.

Rather than portraying a specific individual, the sculpture seeks to represent experiences broadly shared throughout the profession.

PERMANENT INSTALLATION

The completed sculpture may serve as the foundation for a monument-scale bronze installation located at a significant medical campus.

The work is intended to honor the profession itself and the individuals whose dedication has shaped the organization and the communities it serves.

LEGACY EDITION SERIES

In addition to a permanent installation, the project has been designed to support an ongoing bronze legacy program.

Limited-edition bronze sculptures could be presented to retiring physicians, physician leaders, distinguished service recipients, and other individuals whose careers have made a lasting impact on the institution.

The inaugural collection would consist of companion male and female physician sculptures.

Available editions may include:

• 12-inch bronze

• 16-inch bronze

• 20-inch bronze

Each recipient would receive a personalized bronze accompanied by an inscription identifying their name, specialty, years of service, leadership role, or other commemorative information.

Edition numbers would be determined by the number of sculptures awarded during a given year.

The collection is intended to evolve over time, with new figurative sculptures introduced periodically to explore different aspects of the medical profession while remaining connected to the broader Physician Legacy Collection.

Over time, the program would create a growing body of work honoring generations of healthcare professionals while establishing a distinctive tradition unique to the institution.

FUTURE WORKS

A companion female physician/provider sculpture is currently in development.

Together, these works form the foundation of an expanding collection honoring the individuals who have dedicated their lives to medicine.

The inaugural Physician sculpture is currently entering bronze production.
