Beginning commemorates the origins of Clyde Companies and the legacy of its founder, Wilford W. Clyde. In the early 1920s, Clyde recognized an opportunity in the emerging road-building industry, undertaking his first projects with little more than a team of mules and a Fresno earth scraper. What began as the simple, arduous work of moving earth would lay the foundation for one of the West’s most enduring construction enterprises. Commissioned by Clyde Companies in Springville, Utah, this bronze sculpture honors the labor, ingenuity, and determination of those early years, a reminder that extraordinary achievements often begin with modest means, a willingness to work, and a vision for can be built.
